Tips

Hi from co-creator of UPSET - Stuart Fairhurst. Here's a place you can put your own game tips as well as hearing some of ours....
Tip #1
Be sure to collect Keeper Cards whenever possible - they will help you win the game
Tip #2
Beware holding on to your Keeper Cards too long; one of the best parts of the game is stealing other Keeper Cards - unless it's your card being stolen!
Tip #3
Did you realize players can join in a game in progress if everyone is agreeable? You don't necessarily have to wait around if someone is late getting home from work/school/lectures etc. Start the game and let them join in when they arrive. True, they may be at a slight disadvantage to start with but a few good dice throws, a couple of lucky cards, and they could be up with the leaders before you know it. Just be sure to make them stake the pot with their 10 uPcentS before they start!

  • My roommate and I just played upset this afternoon (with creator, Stuart, incidentally). We met randomly at a community BBQ. The game took less than 5 minutes to learn how to play and it was fun! Upset is challenging, yet simple, without a huge time commitment. Oh, and I purchased the game as soon as I won 
It's a Canadian game with Newfoundland and Maritime roots. Dice, strategy, and clever rags or riches chance cards that can change your fate immediately as well as “Keeper Cards” so you may stick it to your friends and family (all in the name of fun, of course) make this a great party or family gathering game.
TIP: Although the game is for ages 12 and up, it can easily be adapted to include the younger members of the family by removing some of the more intricate “Upset” cards and adjusting the math to 5s and 10s.
Anyway, Stuart and Paul you have created a little gem here and I can’t wait to share it with my friends and family.

  • Thanks, Alanna, for your warm review. It was great fun and we look forward to getting together for another game sometime soon... And the offer stands for an UPSET night with your Euchre gamers - we could even arrange to have a draw for free game after the event. Thanks again
